What will it cost:

Unlike new construction, per square foot costs are not very meaningful for most remodel projects. The one exception to this is with whole house renovations, where the anticipated costs can run somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 per square foot and up depending on your finish levels. For most projects, we have found an interesting correlation between the cost of automobiles and kitchens (or bath remodels) over the years. Just as with a car, you can go with the base model sedan or the luxury SUV with all the "bells and whistles".

Studies by various national publications and industry associations have all indicated that remodeling kitchens and bathrooms provide the best return on investment for home improvements, returning anywhere from 85-100% in increased value to the homeowner.
